Apartment vacancies in Denver are at an all time low. In fact they haven’t been this low in 10 years. It seems that because of the housing crisis people are losing their homes and moving into apartments. But some people have delayed buying a home because they don’t want the responsibility.
The apartment vacancy rate in the first quarter fell to 5.5%, the lowest it’s been since 2001, says Colorado’s Department of
Local Affairs Division of Housing.
The lower vacancy rate is causing rent prices to rise, with the average rent in the first
quarter hitting $858 per month, up 2.6% from $836 per month a year earlier
Foreclosures and fear of buying a home are creating a new prosperity for landlords in Denver according to the folks at https://www.housingwire.com/2011/04/28/apartments-in-denver-grows-more-expensive-as-homeownership-declines.
